Originally, the plot of the anime was quite appealing. After midnight in Okinawa, a group of hardcore skaters known as “S” compete in a secret, no-holds-barred race known as “S,” racing each other on skateboards down a winding track dug out of an abandoned mine and occasionally forming rivalries known as “beefs.” Reki, a hardcore skater in high school, introduces incoming transfer student Langa to S one night and ends up dragging him into the skateboarding world.

A brand-new SK8 the Infinity anime project is now in the works, according to an announcement made today, June 4, at the “SK8 Masquerade of Love” event. However, a two-part stage drama titled SK8 the Stage has also been announced. The first installment of SK8 the Stage is set to premiere in December, with the second installment following in January 2022.
SK8 the Infinity is an original anime series that launched early this year, directed by Hiroko Utsumi and animated by the studio Bones (not to be confused with the Bones Brigade). The show is set in Okinawa and follows a group of skateboarders who participate in covert, high-intensity races at night.
From January 10 to April 4, the original SK8 the Infinity anime aired on Japanese television and was available for streaming on Funimation, AnimeLab, and Wakanim in other countries. On January 11, Toriyasu released SK8 Chill Out!, a comedy-oriented spinoff manga. Meanwhile, on March 5, Kazuto Kjima released a manga adaptation of the anime.
