The footage lingers on Shou’s face and Masaki’s inner dialogue claims that he fell in love at first sight when he saw Shou.

Throughout the first two episodes, Masaki blushes whenever she sees Shou, now motivated to learn how to surf like him despite not being able to swim and previously having no interest in surfing.

As this anime dives deeper into surfing, it makes the audience feel more engaging and the characters more relatable. The friendship depicted in Wave!! Surfing Yappe!! almost serious and like in SK8. Although Masaki and Shou’s relationship still hasn’t developed, it is a beautiful friendship especially in the “above friendship under love” style that is appealing to the audience.

2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Team is the only sports anime this year to be adapted from the novel, and it presents itself through believable depictions of character psychology and natural dialogue. Both of these add to the realism of the anime. Drama is infused into the story that happens every week to fuel the fan’s imagination of exciting things to come.

Kimichika Haijima, the main character of the series, is a very talented volleyball player, but his strict attitude almost caused his former teammate to commit suicide. His childhood friend Yuni Kuroba is a winger who gets stressed easily during games. Kimichika and Yuni failed in middle school due to Yuni’s lack of confidence and Kimichika’s high expectations on Yuni. The two meet again at Seiin High and try to get their team to the national team.

Yuni and Kimichika formed a volleyball team, attending a tournament. But that’s just the prologue to the actual story that begins when they meet again in high school. Kimichika still has high hopes for Yuni and becomes disappointed when she sees Yuni not living up to her potential. In fact, Yuni was just pretending to play bad to get Kimichika to play volleyball again. The audience will follow two young men with their own dreams and ambitions.
